Casting incantations were iconic and memorable part of first two games in the series. Is there a way to make them somehow return in BG3?

While you can't use long incantations like "Incertus, Pulcher, Imperium!" on actual casting of the spell, as it will take too much time in turn-based combat, which devs try to make as dynamic & fast as possible... BUT! What if to use similar long incantations once you SELECT spell, before it has actually been cast?

Sound of such incantations should be much lower - almost like whisper or mumbling - kinda like you just quietly reciting the words before actually pronouncing them aloud.

So in such scenario, when you select a certain spell - character starts quiet "recitation" of the spell (e.g. Incertus, Pulcher, Imperium...) and once target for the spell is selected - character pronounces short incantation (as currently happens in the game).

That should definitely please the old BG2 guard laugh

Absolutely agree.....but first....get rid of all the damn screen shaking while casting a spell.

There a sizable difference between the 2nd edition ruleset and 5e. In 2e, used by BG1 and 2, spells had a casting time, measured in segments, during which they can be interrupted. This was what the incantations represented. In 5e rules, spells have no casting time, so no time for incantations.

I agree this would be great to have, if feasible. I understand, as mentioned, that 5E makes implementation harder. If there was a way to have something similar, it would be great.

That's why I propose to implement It diffently, as described in my first post: use similar memorable phrases that were used as incantations in previous installments but in a bit different fashion - once spell selected, but BEFORE cast. Kinda like your character recalls the spell by quietly ppronouncing phrases, before actually casting it.
